The Amsterdam-based Guerrilla Games, the studio responsible for four critically acclaimed Killzone games and last year’s sleeper hit Horizon: Zero Dawn, has grown, as two former Rainbow Six: Siege developers joined Guerrilla this year to work on a mysterious title, including Simon Larouche, Siege's game director, which suggests that Horizon 2 is not the only game under development at Guerilla.
The fact that Rainbow Six: Siege is an FPS with a heavy emphasis on multiplayer indicates that we're talking about a shooter that will also feature some online modes. It's not hard to guess that it may be a next installment in the Killzone series as the last game in the franchise, Killzone: Shadow Fall, was one of the PlayStation 4 launch titles back in 2013 and Larouche worked on Killzone 2's multiplayer maps.
It's just a speculation, but Guerilla's new game may be a PlayStation 5 launch title, just like Shadow Fall five years ago. Rainbow Six: Siege is one of the most-played shooters in the market and the direct rival of Valve's Counter Strike: Global Offensive which has surpassed the most impressive 35 million player mark and became Ubisoft's flagship title that successfully survived the Battle Royale tide.
The Siege is a brand-new style of gameplay embracing the reality of counter-terrorist operatives across the world: intense and asymmetrical close-quarters combat between attackers and defenders. As a defender, you will have the means to transform your environment into strongholds to prevent the attackers from breaching. As an attacker, you will have many planning options to face this challenge and defuse these situations.
