On Saturday night, at the Sonic 25th Aniversary Celebration party, Sega officially announced two brand new Sonic adventures. The first of the two is Sonic Mania, a 2D platformer that will feature visuals and gameplay that will remind gamers of Sonic's glory days. It will feature a handful of new levels and locations combined with a ton of retooled and upgraded zones & acts from classic games, such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and Sonic & Knuckles. The game was developed by Sega of America alongside PagodaWest Games. Check out the trailer below:
Their second announcement, which seemed to be the bigger of the two, was for the tentatively titled Project Sonic 2017. Details on the upcoming game were pretty much nonexistant, but they did confirm that it will arrive just in time for the holidays next year on the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo NX.
