Sony Files Patent That Seemingly Reveals The PLAYSTATION 5's DualShock Controller

Sony knows very well that what isn't broken doesn't need fixing, and a recently filed patent for the PlayStation 5's DualShock controller is further proof of that.

Sony has recently filed a patent for their upcoming PlayStation 5, giving us our first look at what seems to be the console's DualShock 5, and it looks pretty much like we all expected; considering that Sony has made few changes to the original PlayStation controller's design over the years, if any.

The information comes from the Japanese patent office, and reveals that the new DualShock controller is actually a tad bulkier than the DualShock 4, although the design itself is pretty much the same; directional pad, button layout, shoulder buttons, and analog sticks are exactly where they have been since Sony added analog sticks to the original DualShock.

This new patent also reveals that the touchpad isn't going anywhere, and that the controller itself may be featuring a built-in microphone right below the PS home button, which is actually where players whould plug in their microphone and/or headphones.

A Mock-up of the DualShock 5 was made by the people over at Video Games Chronicle, which gives us a better idea of what to expect when Sony officially reveals both the console and the new controller.

Below, you can see both the mock-up, and a side-by-side comparison of the patent filed for the DualShock 5 next to the patent filed by Sony for the DualShock 4, so you can see the differences, or similarities, between the two.
