Until Dawn is arguably one of the smallest PlayStation 4 exclusives, but it doesn't mean it's actually small. While it's hard to compere the Supermassive Games title to, let's say, this year's
God of War or
Spider-Man, the Guildford-based studio surely delivered a critically acclaimed game back in 2015, and the fact that
Until Dawn used to be a PS Move title makes the transition even more respectworthy.
Supermassive's next title, T
he Dark Pictures: Man of Medan is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One sometime in 2019, and many PlayStation fans might be worried that the studio has forgotten about its roots. According to Supermassive Games executive director Pete Samuels, it's not the case, as the developer is currently working hard on a plenty of yet unannounced PS-exclusive titles.
In a recent interview with 4PDA, Samuels revealed that "
the relationship with Sony is still excellent. We are working on several unannounced PS-exclusives. True, it is impossible to talk about them in detail. In general, I really wanted to present our work to the widest possible audience. That is, The Dark Pictures needs to be released on several platforms," the executive director concluded.
The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan is supposed to kick off a new game series united under the
Dark Pictures name. Supermassive has announced that we will get at least two new games a year and each title will feature a different cast of characters, stories and environments. The first chapter will take place in the South Pacific as players will control a group of friends that discover a World War II wreck.
Man of Medan is the first game in the Dark Pictures Anthology, bringing supernatural horror to the South Pacific. As the player you’ll get to shape the story through your actions and decisions. Who will live, who will die - It’s all down to you...
The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan comes out on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One sometime in 2019.
