Prime Video is on a bit of a roll with its video game adaptations. Following the second season of its hit Fallout live-action series, the streamer has a number of additional adaptations in active development, including Tomb Raider, God of War, and Life is Strange.
While there have been a ton of recent updates regarding the filming of Tomb Raider and God of War, there hasn't been much on Life is Strange, which was announced and in pre-production after its official series order in 2025. That changed today, as Amazon MGM Studios announced the two lead actors.
Tatum Grace Hopkins and Maisy Stella will play the lead roles of Max Caufield and Chloe Price, respectively. On social media, the studio shared Polaroid photos of the two young actors alongside images of their in-game characters. Whiel we haven't seen any production photos, it's clear by the introduction that the studio is aiming to replicate the vibes of the video game series, from the overall aesthetic to the choice of music.
Tatum Grace Hopkins will be making her television debut with Life is Strange. However, she has an extensive stage resume, having played Jonquil in the Broadway production of The Queen of Versailles. She also starred int he short film Meek, which screened at the Montclair Film Festival.
Maisy Stella has a bit more on-screen experience. She played Daphne Conrad for six seasons in the ABC/CMT musical drama Nashville. She also appeared as Elliott Labrant opposite Aubrey Plaza in the 2024 film My Old Ass. She also appeared in Maude Apatow's comedy-drama Poetic License.
First announced back in 2025, Prime Video's Life is Strange is based on the critically acclaimed video game franchise developed by Dontnod Entertainment and published by Square Enix. The official logline seemingly confirms the adaptation will stay true to the game's roots, reading, "the story follows Max, a photography student, who discovers she can rewind time while saving the life of her childhood best friend, Chloe. As she struggles to understand this new skill, the pair investigate the mysterious disappearance of a fellow student, uncovering a dark side to their town that will ultimately force them to make an impossible life or death choice that will impact them forever."
As previously announced, Charlie Covell (End of the F***ing World, KAOS) is serving as creator, executive producer, and showrunner. Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson are executive producing under their Story Kitchen banner.
“It’s a huge honor to be adapting Life Is Strange for Amazon MGM Studios,” said showrunner Charlie Covell back in 2025. "I am a massive fan of the game, and I’m thrilled to be working with the incredible teams at Square Enix, Story Kitchen and LuckyChap. I can’t wait to share Max and Chloe's story with fellow players and new audiences alike.”
