The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was shown for the first time at E3 2014 and released in 2017 for Nintendo Switch and Wii U after four years of development at Nintendo. In July, a job listing revealed that the company was looking for new developers (including level designers) to help the main team in Kyoto, Japan produce a sequel that will be available exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
A plenty of gaming outlets was predicting that this yet unannounced title will launch in 2021 or 2022. During yesterday's GI Show, Game Informer editor Imran Khan said "
I was just thinking what I should say about that. The next Zelda will probably be sooner than we think... I will talk to you guys off camera about stuff." Khan also explained that this game is not designed by the
Tri Force Heroes team.
Khan ended this segment of the conversation confirming that this
Legend of Zelda won't be co-op focused. The "
sooner that we think" statement suggests that the mysterious title might be released before 2020. As always, remember that it's just a rumor that may or may not turn out to be true, but players definitely should expect a new
Zelda game in the near future, as Nintendo has been releasing new games with Link year after year since 2013's
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.
