Xbox fans hoping to see VR in the upcoming Scarlett Project console should not hold their breath, as Xbox head Phil Spencer recently reveals that Microsoft isn't focusing on VR at all; stating that he, in his personal opinion, "
has some issues with VR" as a whole.
According to Spencer, his whole opinion on virtual reality in gaming is that it's isolating, and that he thinks of games as a communal experience.
"
We're responding to what our customers are asking for and... nobody's asking for VR," Spencer reveals while also adding that "
The vast majority of our customers know if they want a VR experience, there's places to go get those. We see the volumes of those on PC and other places."
Spencer backs his point up by saying that "
Nobody's selling millions and millions[of VR units]. I think we might get there [eventually]. But yeah, that's not where our focus is."
To be quite fair, VR may be a great way to enjoy certain experiences, but the technology isn't qutie there yet. Sure, there are some great examples out there, and Microsoft openly discussing that they don't see VR as something they want to tackle with the Scarlett Project, shows how transparent they are with their customers.
