Leaked copies, bugs, crashes and system freezes weren't enough to set back No Man's Sky from a strong launch. In fact, the indie game went Gold well before its release date. However, two weeks after launch, the number of players still currently playing the Hello Games space exploration game is reportedly down a staggering 90%. This might all stem from the fact that the long purported end goal of the game, which was to upgrade your ship and reach the center of the galaxy is pretty underwhelming. In fact, reaching the center of the galaxy just boots you back to the game's start menu. And this isn't the start of some harder, New Game+ version either. The game essentialy just asks players to start over. In a game with virtually zero plot or quests, the fact that reaching the end goal doesn't present any reward or big revelation seems to be too much to bear for even some of the game's most ardent supporters.
Over on Reddit, a thread has begun where gamer after gamer have posted their frustration with the game and the shared sentiment that many feel that Hello Games director Sean Murray didn't just fail to deliver many of the experinces promised in No Man's Sky but outright lied. To be fair, there's also
another thread where sympathy is offered to Murray and Hello Games as some people are pointing the blame at Sony for overhyping No Man's Sky but teh Reddit communitty just isn't having any of it.
Some gamers who were in the middle of completing the game have stated that they no longer see a reason to finish.
Check out a video below which spoils the ending.
