Other than getting a remastered re-release; the
BioShock franchise has been laying dormant now for six years —
BioShock Infinite having released in March of 2013.
Though there have been multiple relatively recent instances of
industry analysts predicting that we'll be getting a new instalment in the franchise some time soon, there's a chance that
BioShock could make a return in a new and unexpected way: on film.
Greg Russo is the writer of multiple upcoming movies that are based on popular video game franchises.
Mortal Kombat,
Resident Evil,
Saints Row, he's involved with all of those and more.
Russo recently participated in an interview with
Comicbook.com in which he made it clear that he'd love to turn
BioShock into a movie. In fact, the screenwriter said that he's actively been trying to make one happen. You can check out his full statement below:
"I would love to figure out a way to do BioShock and I've tried. I've been like elbowing everybody I can possibly find, because I think I have a really awesome way to do it that would be really fun. And bring the horror of it to the forefront and hopefully keep the budget at a manageable price. But yeah, that's one that I'd absolutely adore, that be a lot of fun to work on."
