We downloaded the Frontlines: Fuel of War single player demo from Xbox Live over the weekend, and were able to spend some time with it today.
The only thing we were disappointed in is that the demo only contained one, very short, mission.
We're assuming the final version will have a little more polish, and better sound, but for a demo, it was top-notch. The graphics looked great, and the sound was pretty good.
It took us a second to get familiar with the controls, they're slightly different then the other games we've been playing as of late (Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, Gears of War), but not so much so that it was completely alien.
In the demo you get to sample a variety of weapons, remote controlled drones, and even drive a tank for some down and dirty tank-on-tank action.
The two things that most impressed us:
- The ability to carry several weapons, and swap between them.
- Remote controlled drones rock!
Although you only get to use two of the drones (the helicopter and exploding car), it was just enough to wet our appetite. It's clearly evident that these additions to warfare are going to drastically change the battlefield landscape. It's no longer about getting the biggest gun, or finding a secure place to camp, as there really is no such thing in Frontlines: Fuel of War.
