We released our Gears of War 3 Achievements Guide and thought we better get a guide put together for all of the Gears of War 3 collectibles. Not only do they give you some background and details for the game, they also allow you to earn specific achievements, based on how many collectible items you collect.

Act 1

Troubled Past
  • At the very beginning of the prologue (as soon as you control Marcus), look in the room to your right (you'll have to kick the door in).

Anchored
  • Once you regain control of Marcus on-board the ship, turn around and look on the corner of the table (by the can and printer).
  • Look in the sick bay.
  • Look in Baird's room.
  • Once you make it outside onto the ship's deck, head over to the large containers (next to the broken walkway). You'll see the COG/Red Omen logo. Head behind the container and look up at the walkway. Shooting the dead body will drop a COG tag.

Abandon Ship
  • You'll be prompted to grab a silverback to help with the fighting. BEFORE taking the silverback, look for the service manual to the right.

Homecoming
  • Look at the double doors by the "Best Breakfast" poster as you work your way through the streets (to your left before meeting the stranded). Enter the double doors to find a journal.
  • Look at the play fort by the swings when you enter the playground to find a child's diary.
  • Go to checkout counter 1 before you leave the supermarket to find a grocery list.
  • Once you get in the loader mech, kick in the door and find the room at the back with the COG tag on the desk (COG/blood omen logo gives it away) BEFORE you transport the food.

Helping Hand
  • Once inside the stranded base, look for the football dummy. You'll find a newspaper clipping behind the rusted out shipping container.
  • Once you hit the dock outside, head to your left and find a COG tag where the wooden pier begins falling apart (again, the COG/blood omen logo points you in the right direction).

MVP
  • When given the option to choose the route, select to go up and look in the souvenir shop to the right to find a season program for the cougars featuring Cole.
  • When you enter the south gate, take a look at the vending machines to your right (by the fence) for the Cougars player handbook.
  • Once inside the stadium, find the woman near the UXO sign (full of crates) to find Cole's championship ring.

Hanging By A Thread
  • Look at the toll booth with the turret inside to find toll booth tokens.
  • After passing the toll boothes, and nearing the bridge, take a look in the rusted out shipping container to your right. Smash the crate to find a bayonet.
  • Once inside the outpost near the bridge, drop down the ladder by the van (COG/blood omen logo). You'll find a COG tag at the end of the path.
  • While fighting the Lambent, head to your right and look to the right of the stairs, BEFORE going up, to find a sightseeing book.

Act 2

Shipwreck
  • Look inside the shipping container at the beginning of the act (you'll have to kick the doors open) for a beginner's guide to growing tomatoes.
  • While making your way through the crash site, find the gunship next to the three shipping containers (it's on fire). you'll find a Octus Medal Diploma just to the left of it.
  • After dropping down off the siege beast, follow the path and keep the rocks on your right side. You'll see a longshot in a rocky alcove on the ground. Look up, shoot the wooden crate on the rocks, and a captain's log will fall out of it.
  • As you approach the area to rescue your team mates, look behind the shipping container with the COG/blood omen logo on it for another COG tag.

Forced Entry
  • Take out all five guards WITHOUT raising the alarm. If you fail, reload the chapter. Once you get all five, a side door will open to allow you covert access. Once inside, follow the lower path to find a COG tag.

Trench Run
  • As you make your way through the camp, you'll find a slope leading up to a raised gate (you can't miss it). Turn around and look at the crates to find a locust hammer in the corner.

Hijack
  • Look inside the tower structure (hard to miss) near the gateway. Go into the tower to find the Queen's Symbol.

Airborne
  • Once you've landed at the creek, you'll be ambushed on your way back to the barge. Go through the entrance that the enemies came from and check the road in front of the crashed lorry to find a manifest.
  • Head up the stairs next to the yellow shipping container (tanks are on fire next to it). Follow the route to find a COG tag.
