Epic Games announced today that it has struck a licensing deal with NECA to create action figures based on its popular video game title.
"They look gorgeous," said Epic Games spokesperson Dana Cowley of the figures developed so far by New Jersey based NECA. "We've seen samples and so far they are very life like."
Although the financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed, NECA did say that the first figures will be available in the spring.
In addition Marcus Fenix, the other figures will include team-mate Augustus "The Cole Train" Cole, and what Epic and NEC are calling "the villainous Locust Drone."
The sales success of the Gears of War, which rivals that of Microsoft and Bungie's "Halo" franchise, has triggered a wave of other spin-off products for Epic.
In addition to a movie rights contract with Lord of Rings powerhouse Peter Jackson, Epic also has a series of science fiction books based on Gears in the works (see our article:
