Microsoft announced earlier this week that the Xbox 360 just closed the biggest sales week in its history, selling more than 960,000 consoles in the U.S. during the week of Black Friday.

Black Friday sales results from Microsoft for the Xbox 360 and Kinect include:

• Xbox 360 sold more than 960,000 consoles in the U.S. alone, with more than 800,000 sold within a period of 24 hours.

• More than 750,000 Kinect for Xbox 360 sensors were sold in the U.S. – standalone and bundled.

Microsoft is looking to continue the holiday momentum with the Xbox 360 Dashboard Update hitting next week. The Fall Dashboard Update is due to hit December 6th and will host the first group of custom entertainment apps on Xbox LIVE as well a range of new features including expanded support for navigation using voice and gesture controls with the Kinect camera. The update also introduces the new beacon system to facilitate finding friends for gameplay sessions, deeper Facebook integration, and cloud storage for game saves.
