Insomniac Games is open to create a possible Sunset Overdrive 2, a continuation of Sunset Overdrive, the game that the studio created together with Microsoft for Xbox One.

Ted Price, CEO of the studio, explained that after the creation of an intellectual property and making the most complicated decisions to define its essential characteristics, the development teams can move on to focus on how to improve the overall experience to create continuations.

“When you establish an IP, you now know what the tone is, you know what the character is, you know what the core mechanics are that work. You know what players liked and didn’t like.

So, doing a sequel for any game, be it Sunset Overdrive or something else, is an opportunity to deliver something to fans that’s significantly better than the original, and that’s something that I think we [at Insomniac] would love to do someday."

Price states this in reference to a possible continuation of the Xbox One game. Although Microsoft published the game, Insomniac Games owns the rights to the brand as part of the agreement they signed with the Redmond company.

Sunset Overdrive is available for the Xbox One.
