Below is an action-adventure roguelike game that was announced during Microsoft's E3 2013 press conference (Xbox One X was revealed at the same event too). In 2016, developer Capybara Games decided to delay the game indefinitely to polish
Below instead of rushing it out. The project is heading to PC and Xbox One (with enhancements on X) and has finally emerged from the shadows.
At this year's PAX East, IGN has recorded a long, 25 minute gameplay that gives us our best look yet at Below and the project looks beautiful with all these lightning strikes and unique, oneiric atmosphere.
Capybara has announced that Below should hit the stores this year. The game runs at "true" 4K 60 FPS on Xbox One X so it looks as sharp and smooth as ever on Microsoft's new console. Just like in the Dark Souls series, death is permanent and once you're killed, you have to start the game from the beginning, but the more you play, the more you learn to complete the game on your next attempt with any luck.
