The Xbox Game Pass subscription system for Xbox One, which gives access to a selection of games in exchange for a monthly subscription, makes subscribing members spend more time playing than those that are not.
Although no concrete details have been given on the economic results or the volume of subscribers, Microsoft has explained to Variety that in the first year of operation of the system (debuted in June 2017) it has been observed that subscribers spend 20% more time playing their games.
Not only that: they also play a greater variety of titles that stands at 40% on average above the community of non-subscribers of the service. This includes both Xbox Game pass and non-included games.
Therefore, it seems to suggest that subscribers not only enjoy more games thanks to the titles offered in the service, but also are more likely to acquire other games. As noted, subscribers are more likely to buy full sets of games if one of the deliveries is offered on Xbox Game Pass.
“I will say it has significantly exceeded our expectations,” Ben Decker, general manager of serevices at Microsoft said. “The feedback from our developers and customers has been really positive. Those metrics, as well as the raw number of subscribers, have made us really happy."
