It had been a while since weve heard any significant news regarding the Xbox Series X, Microsoft's highly anticipated next-gen console, besides some information about games that will be available at launch, and some details about backwards compatibility.
Today, however, Microsoft has finally given Xbox players some long-awaited news, as the company has officially revealed that the Xbox Series X will be releasing in November of this year. Unfortunately, however, they will not say exactly when in November, but this already narrows down the release window.
Microsoft also reminds players that over 50 new games are planned to release this year, which will be releasing on both the Xbox One and the Xbox Series X, with some of them like Assassin's Creed Valhalla giving players the chance to play on Xbox one, and upgrade to the Xbox Series X version completely free of charge.
Xbox Game Pass will also make games even more accessible for Xbox Series X players, as all of the games currently available for subscribers will also be available on the next-gen console, not to mention that a bunch of these titles will be optimised to perform even better on the Xbox Series X.
"There will be thousands of games to play, spanning four generations, when Xbox Series X launches globally this November and over 100 optimized for Xbox Series X titles, built to take full advantage of our most powerful console, are planned for this year," stated Xbox Wire Editor in Chief Will Tuttle in an official post on Xbox News.
"And with brand new console features like hardware-accelerated Direct X raytracing, framerates up to 120 frames per second, faster loading times, and Quick Resume for multiple games, playing will look and feel better, no matter which games you choose to play on day one," Tuttle explained.
Rumour has it that Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be a launch title for the Xbox Series X, and Ubisoft's next entry in the critically acclaimed Assassin's Creed series is expected to arrive on the 17th of November, which is within the Xbox Series X's release window revealed by Microsoft. Whatever the case, this is definitely exciting news.
