In July Psyonix surprised Rocket League players by announcing that the popular "soccar" title would become free to play later this summer; featuring all of the previously released DLC, and introducing cross-platform progression — which allows players to play the game on any of their preferred platforms.

The developer also revealed — earlier this month, in fact — that Rocket League would no longer be requiring players to be subscribed to PlayStation Plus or Nintendo Switch Online in order to play the game; fully embracing the concept of a free-to-play title.

Unfortunately, Psyonix didn't mention anything in regards to Xbox players. To this day, we still don't have any news regarding this particular topic. But it is still great news that will definitely help the game's reach grow even more.

For the longest time, the developers kept the release date in which the game would become a free-to-play title a secret. That is no longer the case, as Psyonix has just revealed that Rocket League will officially be free for everyone on Wednesday the 23rd of September.

Psyonix has also confirmed that an in-game event called Llama-Rama will launch soon after the game becomes free to play, and that the update that will be rolling out on all platforms will be going live tomorrow; laying the groundwork for what's to come next week.

As they celebrate, the developers at Psyonix have also released an awesome cinematic trailer for Rocket League, so be sure to give it a watch down below.
