A few days ago, Yacht Club Games streamed a presentation — in the same vein of Nintendo's Direct presentations — revealing a few interesting news about Shovel Knight in general; from dates of future expansions, to their upcoming board game.

The "Yacht Club Gales Presents" presentation wrapped up with the announcement that they had teamed up with Nitrome to develop Shovel Knight Dig; an all-new entry in their critically acclaimed Shovel Knight series.

Alongside the announcement, Yacht Club Games also released a trailer for the game that showed off some gameplay for the upcoming Shovel Knight Dig — which revealed that the game is now using a 16-Bit art style but is keeping its tight gameplay mechanics that made the original game such a hit.

Now, and thanks to the people over at GameSpot, we have 7 minutes of gameplay for Shovel Knight Dig, which sees the noble knight digging his way through Spore Knight's stage.

From what we can see from the gameplay video, the game is really taking advantage of the word "dig" in the title, as Shovel Knight quite literally has to dig his way through stages and it seems that — once he defeats an opponent — he'll continue to dig deeper until he reaches the next knight.

Shovel Knight Dig still doesn't have an official release date.
