Supercell Games, developers of hit mobile games Clash of Clans, Brawl Stars, and Clash Royale, are ready to introduce a new game to the mix.
Squad Busters is a new mobile action, offering a unique PvP/PvE experience that's part MOBA, part Super Smash Bros.
The new game sees players "build and bust" Squads comprised of characters from Supercell's library of games. The goal is to build a strong Squad and bust other Squads to grab Gems. The Squad with the most Gems at the end of a match wins.
Players begin with just one Character, but by exploring and fighting on the map, they will earn Coins that can be used to open Chests and unlock new Characters to add to their Squad. As you grow your Squad throughout the match, you can take down harder Monsters and enemy Squads.
Combat is done mostly automatically with players able to control the general movement, along with some Special Abilities and Spells.
Squad Busters does seem to be inspired by some other GACHA games, especially as you unlock and level up characters. Characters are unlocked from the Squad Journey or by opening Chests after a match.
There will be times when you find Character duplicates in Chests or the Shop. These can be used to evolve your Squad members into more powerful forms. Each Character has three Evolution levels -- Baby, Classic, and Super -- and each level unlocks a new special ability to use in battle.
The characters are divided into classes that effectively serve as "roles" in which they can contribute to your Squad in battle. The "Defender" class, for example, has a massive health boost, while the Attacker deals "huge damage" but has little health. There's also the Healer class that, well, heals or boosts ally health.
And like other games, there are character rarities. There are three rarities in the game right now: Common, Rare, and Epic. However, Supercell warns against getting too hung up on rarity, as you'll want to build a strategic Squad that synergizes well in combat.
Squad Busters had previously soft-launched in a few specific countries, but Supercell has announced that its global launch will be on May 29th. Pre-registration for the game is now open.
Supercell has set pre-registration goals that the community can unlock by reaching certain milestones. Players have already hit the 1M pre-registration milestone, unlock various rewards for Supercell's different games.
Squad Busters will be free-to-play upon launch, and available on iOS and Android mobile devices.
