Not only will the studio behind Hitman Go and Deus Ex Go announce its first freemium title in the next few months. It will be released before the end of the year. That's what studio head Patrick Naud told GamesIndustry.biz. He indicated that the market for premium mobile titles has all but evaporated.
"That price barrier is a block. The premium mobile market has declined drastically for us, even since we released the first Go game...We've had our growing pains, we've learned, we've had super success but now we're ready for the next step, starting this year."
Additional reporting from GI.biz confirmed that the release of Square Enix Montreal's freemium game was just a few months out. As disclosed in the article, the Canada-based studio is moving away from the "Go" series of titles and looking to try something new.
Fan speculation is that it will be a Final Fantasy-focused mobile game but there's been no official word from the studio.
