Dubbed P-Sports, a hybrid competitive/entertainment Pokemon eSports league is preparing to kickoff in Japan. Could something similar make its way Stateside?

Are P-Sports the next big thing that will take the Pokemon fandom by storm?  Kicking off on Abema TV in Japan on January 24 at 9PM JST, the Pokemon Company's P-Sports will be a televised match between celebrity Japanese trainers and avid Pokemon gamers who are attempting to defeat the "P-Sports Elite Four" and achieve the rank of  "P-Sports Champion."

Of course, the unfortunate name of P-Sports isn't being overlooked by Western gamers... Still, it's an interesting mix of entertainment and professional eSports ingenuity that just might catch on.

New episodes will air every other Saturday, following the January 24 premiere.
