It has certainly been an exciting time for Pokemon fans recently with everything surrounding Detective Pikachu, the release of Nintendo Switch titles Pokemon: Let's Go, Eevee! and Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu!, and of course, Pokemon Go.

Niantic has shown that they refuse to let players forget about the mobile game, with the recent announcement of upcoming Trainer Battles as well as the huge December Community Weekend Event, bringing back all the event Pokemon from throughout 2018. Now, in addition, they are bringing back their heavy hitters in the form of Generation 1 and 2 Legendary Pokemon.

That's right, all throughout December, Trainers will have an attempt to complete Field Research Tasks from throughout the year which will award them a chance to capture Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Entei, Raikou, or Suicune - otherwise known as the Legendary Beasts and Birds. If players are missing any of these Pokemon, they will have to try to complete as many tasks as possible, as there are six Pokemon and only four weeks.

What do you think? Do you think it was a good idea for Niantic and Pokemon Go to bring back the Legendary Beasts and Birds, or would you have preferred fresh blood? Jump to the comments below and let us know your thoughts!
