On Pokemon GO's official Twitter page, they announced that all Field Research Task rewards after August 20th will be capped at 100 per trainer, meaning any excess rewards will be deleted.
Many players might be a little confused by this, because this is the way 'Field Research Tasks' work:
-
Trainers spin Poke Stops to receive a random task.
-
They can hold up to three tasks at any given time (they can all be the same task as well, just so long as they were received from different Poke Stops).
-
Some of the rewards for these tasks are small, such as a few Poke balls, some berries, and in some cases a Pokemon spawns (with a 100% catch rate).
-
Once trainers finish 7 seperate tasks on 7 different days (issued as 'stamps'), players unlock a bigger reward such as a rare or legendary Pokemon to capture (which rotates monthly and is the same for everyone, and is still a 100% catch rate).
Well, since these tasks started earlier this year, players had realized that after completing either daily tasks, or even the big 7-day streak task, they could hold onto Pokemon spawns if they accepted the reward, and backed out of catching the monsters. This inevitably "stored" these Pokemon in order of first reward opened.
It's nice of Niantic to give trainers aheads up a couple weeks before this change, as otherwise there may have been some sad Legendary Pokemon tucked away in those rewards cut off after 100. Here's the official Tweet:
Speaking of Field Research Tasks, each month the rewards that spawn Pokemon get slight modifications, and here's a list made by redditor /u/MilumiGermany:
