Mewtwo is one of the few pocket monsters that requires any sort of introduction. A cloning experiment lead to the birth of one of the - if not
the most powerful creature in all of Kanto. Long-time fans of the
Pokémon series will remember that in
Pokémon Red and
Pokémon Blue (Green), the creature was not obtainable until the game was already completed as the Cerulean Cave which he presided in was off limits until after the defeat of the Elite Four.
The fame and popularity of this creature only grew over the years - thanks largely in part to the first
Pokémon film released in theaters -
Mewtwo Strikes Back. Last Summer saw the release of Netflix's
Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution and thanks to that more recent release Niantic has a reasonable excuse to reintroduce the Pokémon into their mobile game.
As such, Armored Mewtwo has officially returned to Raids during the
Pokémon Go Pokémon Day Celebration Event to celebrate the
Netflix film. The creature will obviously be in Five-Star Raid Battles, and it will know the Charged Attack Psystrike for Trainers who are able to capture one of these legendary monsters. Niantic has released a short teaser trailer in celebration of Mewtwo's return which we have included below.
