While the box office result of last year's Solo: A Star Wars Story ($392,924,807 on a budget of $275 million [and that's the lower end of the industry's predictions]) would suggest that Disney would give the series a bigger room to breathe, it won't be the case, as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and The Mandalorian are both releasing later in the year, and two more Star Wars movies are in the works.

While it's still unclear what Rian Johnson (the controversial director of 2017’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi) and David Benioff & D.B. Weiss (the masterminds behind the success of HBO's Game of Thrones) are currently developing, there's a small chance that one of those upcoming movies (or TV series) will actually be a proper adaptation of the cult-classic Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game series.

In an interview with MTV's Josh Horowitz, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has revealed that the company is "developing something to look at" based on the KOTOR franchise. Quite interestingly, Lucasfilm has still not confirmed if the in-game events are canon or not – but the answer is obvious.

As a reminder, BioWare's original and Obsidian Entertainment’s sequel told the story that took place almost 4000 years before the formation of the Galactic Empire, focusing on the hunt for Darth Malak, a Dark Lord of the Sith, who has unleashed a Sith armada against the Republic. While we won't spoil the games' endings for you, both of them left players all around the world pretty shocked, to say the least.
