Earlier this year, Sicario 2: Soldado director Stefano Sollima was hired by Activision Blizzard Studios to helm the first Call of Duty movie. Though we're yet to be provided an inkling of information regarding that film, Activision are already dead-set on its sequel.

According to a recent report by Variety, Acitivision Blizzard Studios have hired Joe Robert Cole to pen the script for the Call of Duty movie sequel. Cole is known for writing, the recent Marvel Studios blockbuster, Black Panther alongside its director Ryan Coogler.

We're yet to find out any information regarding the film's story, whether it will be a hard or soft adaptation, or even anything to do with casting. Activision Blizzard Studios presidents Stacey Sher and Nick van Dyk are attached as producers and Bobby Koticak and Coco Francini are on-board as chief executive producers.

The studio wants the first film to go into production at some point in 2019 and for the sequel's script to be ready around the same time. Whether the sequel will be a continuation of its predecessor is unknown. Perhaps this could hint at annual Call of Duty movie releases - similar to their source material.

What do you think about this news? Which Call of Duty game would you like to see adapted into a movie?
