The highly anticipated adaptation of Naughty Dog's Uncharted seems to finally be gaining some steam.
Following the recent announcement of Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) joining the picture as its new director, That Hashtag Show is reporting that Sony is eyeing four high-profile actors to star alongside Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming) as Nathan Drake's friend Victor „Sully” Sullivan.
According to the (quite reliable) website, Chris Hemsworth (Men in Black: International, 12 Strong), Woody Harrelson (Venom, Zombieland), Matthew McConaughey (The Dark Tower, Dallas Buyers Club), and Chris Pine (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Outlaw King) are Sony's top choices to play Sully.
Considering that those four actors have already established relationships with Sony, each of them has equal chances to get the part. Given that the "bad video game movie" curse is still a thing, Uncharted desperately needs a big name that would carry the movie and make it look a bit more "legitimate."
Uncharted is a co-production between Arad and Atlas Entertainment Production, and will be produced by Charles Roven, Alex Gartner, and Ari and Avi Arad. Uncharted is expected to start shooting before the end of the year as the Dan Trachtenberg-directed movie doesn't have an official release date yet.
