Mortal Kombat reboot is set to start production soon in South Australia later this year with a projected budget of $70 million. The production is said to be the largest film to be produced in the state.
The film is said to create 580 jobs and 1500 roles as extra's on the film. The film is based upon the 1990's Warner Bros film Mortal Kombat which was released in 1995 and made nearly $122 Million at the Box office.
According to Adelaide Now, the film will be produced in Adelaide Studios in Glenside. Premier Steven Marshall had the following to say about the film;
"I think this will take the industry to the next level and enable us to bring more and more of these blockbusters here to our state."
"The reality is South Australia has fantastic facilities, fantastic personnel, fantastic locations," he said.
"Mortal Kombat is going to be absolutely crucial. Bringing a blockbuster here, I think, will demonstrate the great capability that we have in South Australia.
"We're going to be going for more and more screenwork for our state."
The film will be produced by James Wan best known for his Conjuring Films and Aquaman also Todd Garner and Larry Kasanoff, E. Bennett Walsh, Michael Clear and Sean Robins are set to be executive producers, with screenplay by Greg Russo.
