Earlier this month, Overwatch 2 was announced at BlizzCon. The highly anticipated sequel was revealed with an incredible animated cinematic named "Zero Hour," that was almost ten minutes in length. A dozen other animated cinematics have been released alongside Overwatch over the years since the popular first-person shooter released back in 2016.

These shorts have allowed us a glimpse at the incredible narrative that takes place within the Overwatch world. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that many have fantasized about a full-on Overwatch movie. Game Informer recently had the chance to sit down with the director of Overwatch and its upcoming sequel.

During their interview, the site asked Jeff Kaplan about the possibility of an Overwatch movie and here's what he had to say. On whether an Overwatch movie would be live-action or animated, Kaplan had the following to say: "I would really love to see an animated Overwatch movie. That would really warm my heart."

Kaplan was also asked whether there have been any behind-the-scenes conversations about an Overwatch feature film and he said that there absolutely had been — and en masse at that. "I have had my fair share of conversations about an Overwatch movie."
