Disney's 2012 animated feature Wreck-It Ralph was a surprise, critically-acclaimed release that didn't earn nearly as much as it shoud have at the box office. Hopefully that wrong will be righted when Disney releases the sequel on March 9, 2018. Collider recently caught up with one of the stars from the first film, Alan Tudyk to discuss his new project, NBC's Powerless, but also slipped in a question concerning whether King Candy would be returning.
"It has been suggested that I will be participating in that, but I honestly don’t know specifics," stated the former Firefly actor. He continued, "I have not worked on it, to this day. I can say that for sure. I have not been in any recording booths. I was invited to participate in the read-through, but I was in London doing Star Wars. It was a cool, ‘I wish I could, but I’m fighting Stormtroopers.'”
So Tudyk was invited to a table read for the sequel but couldn't make it due to his role in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which was filming iin London from August 2015 through February 2016. With it now being a year later and Tudyk still not involved, is it safe to assume that the underhanded King Candy won't be back?
