New examination of leaked Grand Theft Auto 6 footage has produced a detailed list of gameplay systems that appear to be in the game. A widely shared post on the GTA 6 subreddit compiled mechanics visible in recent clips, many of which point to a deeper and more simulation-heavy approach than previous mainline entries.
The footage circulating in August 2026 is believed to date from around 2023, according to metadata notes shared alongside the clips. Even if the material is several years old, the systems on display have fueled extensive discussion about how Rockstar is evolving core GTA mechanics.
Vehicle systems receive particular attention. The leaks appear to show a fuel mechanic, with gauges for fuel and what may be engine health or oil pressure visible on the HUD after entering a car. Cars also seem more durable overall, with a paint scratch and spark system that reacts to contact with other vehicles. Realistic tire smoke is described as among the best seen in any game so far. Additional vehicle details include object and weapon storage inside cars, interactive elements such as openable tailgates, and improved exit animations for both the player and NPCs.
The wanted system looks significantly expanded. A six-star wanted level is visible, going beyond the traditional five-star structure of recent games. When wanted, three distinct red icons appear, which community members interpret as tracking the player’s face, clothing, and vehicle separately. Cops are shown performing roadside speed traps and traffic enforcement, while NPC drivers react more realistically by attempting to dodge oncoming collisions.
Player systems also show greater depth. An honor or morality system appears to fluctuate based on actions, with visual feedback after committing crimes. A stamina system is present, and side activities can raise character attributes. One clear example shows a basketball activity awarding "+2 to Focus," using an icon reminiscent of Red Dead Redemption 2’s Dead Eye. Cash is tracked in at least two places: money on hand and a separate home or vault balance.
Combat and interaction details include improved fight animations building on Red Dead Redemption 2, the ability to loot or pick up bodies, prompts to antagonize or defuse situations with NPCs, and the option to throw melee weapons. NPC behavior looks more responsive overall, with characters making eye contact and reacting dynamically during confrontations. Water and object physics are described as operating at a notably higher level, supported by denser vegetation and real-time ray-traced reflections.
Other smaller observations include bicycles in traffic, better vehicle recognition by police, and contextual interaction options such as warning or defusing a situation with a driver.
These details remain unverified by Rockstar. Leak footage can reflect unfinished systems, cut features, or placeholder implementations. Still, the consistency of the observations across multiple clips has led many to treat the list as a credible look at the direction of the game. The timing is notable as well. Rockstar is scheduled to release an Extended Look at GTA 6 on Netflix on August 27, which many expect will provide the first substantial official gameplay presentation.
If even a portion of the leaked systems make it into the final game, GTA 6 would represent a clear step toward the denser simulation style Rockstar refined in Red Dead Redemption 2. Fuel management, separate cash reserves, attribute-building side activities, granular wanted tracking, and highly interactive vehicles all point to a world that reacts more persistently to player behavior.

For now the information exists in the familiar gray zone of high-profile leaks. The August 27 Extended Look should clarify how many of these systems Rockstar is ready to show publicly. Until then, the latest analysis of the leaked footage offers one of the most detailed pictures yet of the mechanical foundation beneath Vice City’s next chapter.
