Dragon's Dogma 2 is available today on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC via Steam.

Built using Capcom's RE ENGINE, Dragon's Dogma 2 puts players in an immersive fantasy world as an Arisen, a champion whose heart is stolen by the dragon.  A narrative-driven action RPG, it's a sequel to the 2012 classic, set in a parallel world containing two nations with distinct approaches to the Dragon threat.

"Queen Regent Disa has installed a false Arisen to maintain control of the kingdom of Vermund for her son. Meanwhile, the beastren nation of Battahl considers the otherworldly Pawns to be a source of misfortune and have turned to worship of the Lambent Flame and their high priestess Nadinia to ward off calamity," the synopsis teases.

Dragon's Dogma 2 emphasizes player choice with your decisions and creativity shaping your individual experience. You lead a party of up to three AI companions known as Pawns — your custom main Pawn and up to two additional Pawns that can be recruited offline or from other players while online — through an immersive world that is approximately four times the size of the original world in its predecessor. Pawns will organically guide you to new locations, dynamically cooperate during battle, and react to special moments in the game. NPCs — of which there are over 1,000 that inhabit the world — will also form intricate relationships with your Arisen, creating unique story moments that shape your adventure.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is praised for its robust character creator which uses photogrammetry technology to create photo-realistic characters. You can choose to create your own detailed character from scratch or use a series of images for a more simpler and intuitive process.

In addition to your Arisen's looks, you'll be able to choose your desired playstyle through four available Vocations: Fighter, Archer, Thief and Mage. As you progress through the story, you will unlock new vocations such as the Mystic Spearhand, Trickster, and Warfarer.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a single player, narrative driven action-RPG that challenges the players to choose their own experience – from the appearance of their Arisen, their vocation, their party, how to approach different situations and more - in a truly immersive fantasy world.

Dragon's Dogma 2 has been met with generally favorable reviews that range in the mid-80s to low-90s, depending on your platforms. Despite all of the positives though, the game has faced criticism for the availability of microtransactions for items obtainable in-game, essentially amounting to what used to be cheat codes. While you can unlock many of these games by simply playing the game, many took issue with the fact that you need to pay to unlock them more quickly.
