Dying Light 2 was announced during Microsoft's E3 2018 press conference, and once again, we’ll get to leap and fight through (and over) a zombie-infested city, run missions for people, and, obviously, survive. This time, the story of the game changes basing on your decisions. For example, you can choose to free up a water control point to help a nearby city or team up with the people who control it.
In a recent interview with VG247, Techland explained why they hired the legendary screenwriter of
Neverwinter Nights 2 and
Fallout: New Vegas. “[
Dying Light 2]
is very ambitious, so we knew we needed some help,” the studio revealed at E3 0218. “
So we asked Chris Avellone, the master of non-linear storytelling to help us with this challenge." That's not the end of supporting the writing team.
“
We also got some additional help in the form of the former The Witcher 3 writing team. Those guys were responsible for some of the best quests from that game including the Bloody Baron quest line. All of those guys are working very hard to create a narrative – it’s like a puzzle to play with.” That's right, Techland hired writers from CD Projekt RED who worked on
The Witcher 3’s Bloody Baron quest.
Bloody Baron, is the name of a quest and one of the most colorful characters in
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which involves Geralt traveling to Crow's Perch to meet with the titular Baron. Phillip Strenger, better known to many in Velen as the Bloody Baron, is one of the interesting and ambiguous characters Geralt encounters during his search for Ciri, and with the combined forces of
Blood Baron's writers and Chris Avellone, there's no reason to not expect (at the very least) a well-crafted and intriguing story.
