MARVEL'S AVENGERS: Head Of Crystal Dynamics On Exploring The Characters In Ways Fans Haven't Seen Yet

One of the things that Scott Amos, head of Crystal Dynamics, wants to achieve with the upcoming Marvel's Avengers game is to give fans the opportunity to explore these characters in ways they have not seen yet.

The team over at Crystal Dynamics are really fixed on making Marvel's Avengers a true experience for fans of the iconic characters. While the reveal trailer released this past E3 may have received a mixed reaction from fans, there is no denying that the developer has really put their heart into this game.

With every new bit of information that is revealed about Marvel's Avengers, fans get more and more excited to see what the developers do with the characters and the game's story, as well as how they tacle both single player and multiplayer modes.

In regards to the characters, head of Crystal Dynamics Scott Amos has recently revealed that these Avengers will, in fact, be different from the ones seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, although they have obviously borrowed elements from the source material; looking forward to explore these iconic characters in depth.

"We get to bring our talent and our ability to this and say, “What can we do with these characters? How do we get to explore the depth of who these characters are?” For us, there’s an exciting opportunity to explore these characters in ways that people haven’t seen them. And because there’s so much out there, we have to be very good at threading that needle," has explained Amos.

"But that’s what Marvel does; they bring that DNA to us, advise and collaborate, keeping us honest with who these characters are at their core. So we have these great actors who can bring their own personalities and blend them with all the direction that we’re getting between Crystal and Marvel. I’m excited for fans to see what we've done."

Amos also revealed that Crystal Dynamics are closely working with the people over at Marvel, which helps them get some guidance in regards to developing these characters' personalities in a way that fans will appreciate once Marvel's Avengers finally releases — without straying from the source material too much, but also without making them too similar to previous iterations.

"It is exhilarating and challenging. The beauty of Marvel is that they know what their fans love and want, clearly. For instance, to discuss one medium, Marvel Studios has done a masterful job of assembling those heroes, with this ten-year epic saga across everything they’ve actually done. For us, it is literally living an adventure with them.

"Being able to say, with Marvel, “How do we bring those Super Hero fantasies to life now that fans get to play as them?” Then looking again to our role in this original story, our biggest push is to be thinking about it from a fan's perspective. How do we make you fall in love with these heroes again? We look at this as an amazing opportunity.

It seems that Crystal Dynamics have already figured out what they want to do with the characters and Marvel's Avengers and how they'll tackle the game's story in a way that feels rewarding for fans of the Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Marvel's The Avengers will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia on the 15th of May in 2020.
