Firaxis Games, the team behind the XCOM and Civilization franchises, has confirmed that they will release Marvel's Midnight Suns next year. Featuring tactical, turn-based gameplay, the game will feature a new combat system but is likely to be similar to the titles mentioned above.
We don't have any gameplay footage yet, but we do know that between all the fighting, players will return to a base known as The Abbey. There, you can explore your surroundings in third-person, talking to your fellow superheroes through extensive dialogue trees and choosing who to add to your team. Interestingly, it's said you'll need to put some thought into how you interact with your teammates (confirmed characters include Blade, Doctor Strange, Captain America, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Magik, Ghost Rider, Wolverine, Captain Marvel, and Nico Minoru with more to be revealed).
"The world as we know it is changed forever when Hydra, through a procedure of magic and science, manages to revive Lilith, Mother of Demons," reads the synopsis for Midnight Suns. "In an effort to prevent Lilith from spreading her armies across the world, destroying everything in her path, The Avengers enlist the Midnight Suns to assist in their battle. This team of supernaturally powered heroes will need to work with the likes of Captain America, Iron-Man and Captain Marvel if they want to stop Lilith from resurrected Chthon, her all-powerful master."
However, Earth's Mightiest Heroes will be joined by a newly created character called the Hunter. The child of Lilith, only they are capable of slaying the Mother of Demons, and you'll be able to design that character from scratch. Midnight Suns, based on the comics of the same name, will be set in its own world so won't tie into any of the other titles heading our way from Marvel Games.
Marvel's Midnight Suns is set to be released on March 2022 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Check out the trailer for the game below:
