PlatinumGames, the renowned makers behind
Vanquish, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and
NieR: Automata, is no longer co-developing
Granblue Fantasy: Relink, but it doesn’t necessarily have to mean that the Japanese studio's original output has been completely ditched – as the development team at Cygames is planning to use most of Platinum's past work on the ambitious jRPG in its final build.
The latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine UK features some pretty fascinating details on the highly anticipated
Granblue Fantasy: Relink, but fans of PlatinumGames' previous video games are probably most interested in Cygames' decision to keep the bulk of the
Bayonetta studio's unfinished work in the final product, "
including the level layout, character animation, and fighting systems."
Granblue Fantasy: Relink is a PlayStation 4 exclusive that has been in development since 2015. The title is set in the same universe as 2014's mobile
Granblue Fantasy which proved hugely popular in Japan.
Although PlatinumGames is no longer attached to
Granblue Fantasy: Relink, the developer is reportedly working on at least five games, with only three of them being officially unveiled: the Nintendo Switch-exclusive
Bayonetta 3 &
Astral Chain, and also the Square Enix-published
Babylon's Fall. Take a look:
