Better late than never? Rockstar Games announced today that its beloved action-adventure game Red Dead Redemption will be coming to PC on October 29. That's 14 years after the game was first launched on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Red Dead Redemption will arrive alongside its zombie-horror companion story, Undead Nightmare. This new version of the game, made in collaboration with Double Eleven, will add PC-specific enhancements including native 4K resolution at up to 144hz on compatible hardware, monitor support for both Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9), HDR10 support, and full keyboard and mouse functionality.

The PC version will also support NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 upscaling technologies, NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation, adjustable draw distances, shadow quality settings, and more.

Set during the decline of the American frontier in the year 1911, the story follows former outlaw John Marston who is forced by federal agents to hunt down three criminal members of his former gang and bring them to justice.

"Step into the events immediately following the 2018 blockbuster, Red Dead Redemption 2, in the critically acclaimed tale of Marston’s journey to bury his blood-stained past, one man at a time," Rockstar teases.

Red Dead Redemption features a sprawling open world set in a fictionalized version of the American Southwest Mexico. The area is split into three distinct territories: New Austin, the last outpost of the American frontier; Nuevo Paraiso, a Mexico province on the brink of a civil war; and West Elizabeth, home to the modernizing city of Blackwater.

While playing, you'll experience much of the American frontier as it were back in the day, including hunting and wildlife —featuring 30 different species of animal — as well as an array of authentic period weapons, "from hand-packed muskets to repeater rifles; from single shot pistols to the iconic revolver."

The game is also known for its morality system, with all of your actions resulting in consequences that affect your levels of honor and fame. Your levels of honor and fame will change the way townsfolk respond to you.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was released for PC in 2019, about a year after it debuted on consoles. Those who played it experienced a prequel story of John Marston. So now you'll finally experience the adventure that came next.
