SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is, as its name very appropriately suggests, a remade version of the original Battle for Report ikini Bottom video game that released for consoles and PC in the early 2000s; featuring ehnanced graphics that give this classic a modern look.
This remake was developed by Purple Lamp Studios, published by THQ Nordic, and finally released on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC in June of this year to some very positive reviews by fans of the original game — who praised the graphics, music, and overall nostalgic feel.
Embracer Group has recently shared some new information about the game, revealing that THQ Nordic and Purple Lamp Studios' SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated has already managed to sell over a very impressive 1 million copies.
What's more impressive here is the fact that SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated was released on the 23rd of June, which means that it only took a tad over a month for the game to sell 1 million units; again, fairly impressive for a remake of a game that originally came out in 2003.
Of course, nostalgia played a huge role boosting those sales, but this is to be expected from games that have been given the remake treatment, especially games like SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, which look simply amazing running on current-gen consoles, and play just as great as they did back in the day.
Are you ready, kids? The cult classic is back, faithfully remade in spongetastic splendor! Play as SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy and show the evil Plankton that crime pays even less than Mr. Krabs. Want to save Bikini Bottom from lots of rampant robots? Of course you do! Want to underpants bungee jump? Why wouldn't you! Want to join forces in a brand new multiplayer mode? The battle is on!
SpongeBob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC(Steam).
