According to Ubisoft, Assassin's Creed Odyssey will take you on an unforgettable adventure allowing players to explore an entire country full of untamed, beautiful environments and cities at the peak of Greece's Golden Age, visiting Sparta and witnessing Athens in their full, legendary glory, treading in the footsteps of legends like Odysseus and Hercules. For the first time in the series, you will also have a chance to choose between main missions, story-based side quests, and even two main protagonists.
During a recent Reddit AMA with Johnathan Dumont, the game’s Creative Director revealed that Odyssey's psychical copies will have two reversible covers featuring our main heroes, Alexios and Kassandra. Similarly to Syndicate, you’ll be able to play as either a male or a female hero, but the decision will be determining and you won't be able to switch the characters during the playthrough.
When asked if there would be a definitive story, Dumont confirmed that Kassandra would be the canon option, stating, “Yes there will be a canon represented in the novel. It features Kassandra and her journey.” Assassin's Creed: Odyssey is the title of an upcoming novel written by Gordon Doherty (Legionary), which will be released on October 5, 2018 focusing on Kassandra's mysterious lineage.
