Rico Rodriguez is back in Square Enix's
Just Cause 4 and this time it looks like things will be a little bit different for him, while keeping everything that has made the franchise stand out over the years.
In
Just Cause 4 Rico finds himself going to the fictional South AMerican country of
Solis, a chaotic world full of conflict, opression, and extreme weather conditions—which is also turf of the dangerous mercenary faction: the
Black Hand. Every enemy brings functions and dangers that are unique to them, adding a lot of variety when it comes to taking them down. Because of this, players will need to approach situations a little bit differently than they may be used toy. These are elite soldiers just like him so it will not be a walk in the park.
Thanks to the Apex engine, that game is now capable of creating stunning landscapes and extreme weather simulations, not to mention enhanced physics—which will give players some of those crazy gameplay opportunities
Just Cause games are so well known for.
The developers also say that they like to refer to Rico as a force of nature and that's when it hit them that the one thing that can go up against a force of nature like him is another force of nature—thus coming up with the extreme weather conditions—like tornados, sand storms, and even blizzards.
The
Just Cause 4 developer team also mentions that they wanted to redefine Rico in some way and, while he's still one of the strongest, and most amazing action heroes out there, this game will see him meeting his match. Rico will still be armed with his grappling hook, which allows for some creative gameplay when it comes to taking down any kind of enemies and vehicles, as well as allowing for a quick retreat if things get too heated.
