According to Capcom, the future of the company lies in the RE Engine, the company’s in-house tool initially built for
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard – later used to develop
Resident Evil 2 and
Devil May Cry V.
"
While we are unable to comment on the specific number of titles or release windows, there are numerous titles currently being developed internally with the RE Engine," Capcom explained during their quarterly financial briefing. "
The games we developed using the RE Engine during this current hardware generation have received critical acclaim, and from the early stages of building this engine, we kept the ability to augment it for next-generation development in mind; as such, we view the RE Engine as one of our strengths that will contribute to next-generation game creation," Capcom said.
Although Capcom has not revealed what its studios are currently developing just yet, it's definitely safe to say that some sequels to the hugely popular remake of
Resident Evil 2 and
Devil May Cry V are both in the works – as those two video games have already sold millions of copies all around the world.
As a reminder, Capcom's latest video game powered by the RE Engine, the Hideaki Itsuno-directed
Devil May Cry V, was released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in March 2019. Check it out below:
A new demonic invasion has begun with the seeds of a demon tree being sown in Red Grave City.
