Resident Evil 2's remake was officially announced a month ago at Sony's E3 2018 media briefing after three years of development at Capcom. The original Resident Evil 2 was released for the PlayStation in 1998, exactly 20 years ago. The beloved horror gave players a chance to control Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield to escape from Raccoon City after its citizens sudden transformation into angry zombies.
The original Resident Evil 2 featured two extended campaigns that provided different points of view to the basic horror story. The game was directed by Hideki Kamiya and produced by Shinji Mikami, the director of the first Resident Evil and The Evil Within series, and developed by a team of 40–50 over 21 months. To show you the scope of the remake, Capcom has decided to leave the title as it is.
The latest Resident Evil 2 artwork focuses solely on Claire Redfield, the younger sister of BSAA operative and former S.T.A.R.S. member Chris Redfield. She traveled to the corrupted city in search of her brother and with the help of Leon S. Kennedy, she's learn the terrible truth about the outbreak.
