In April of this year, rumours started doing the rounds and suggesting that Capcom may be considering to give the remake treatment to Resident Evil 4, after the success they've had with the critically acclaimed remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
Resident Evil 4 is the only game in the series that has been ported to pretty much every platform available since it was first released in January of 2005, and Capcom has even given it the remaster treatment by increasing its resolution, but keeping all of the other elements intact.
Rumours about this alleged remake go as far as claiming that developer M-Two — the same studio that helped Red Works with the Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake — is currently working on the Resident Evil 4 remake, and that Resident Evil 3 was some sort of a try-out.
While Capcom has yet to confirm these rumours, it seems that Resident Evil 4 Shinji Mikami is more than willing to see his game getting a remake, and he's particularly optimistic after seeing what Capcom did with the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 2 remake.
"I saw a video of the Resident Evil 2 Remake and I thought it was very good. I think they're going to continue to remake these games since they're selling well," replied Mikami, during a recent interview with IGN, to a question about Capcom remaking titles in the Resident Evil series.
Mikami only directed the first Resident Evil and Resident Evil 4, and when it comes to this rumoured remake of the latter, Mikami reveals that he has absolutely no issue with Capcom giving Resident Evil 4 the remake treatment.
"As long as it turns out good I have no issues with it," stated Mikami.
Now that the alleged Resident Evil 4 remake has Shinji Mikami's approval, all we need is for Capcom to officially announce that the project is, indeed, a reality.
