Things couldn’t be better for the beloved horror-game franchise as its newest installment, the Resident Evil 2 remake, sold more than three million copies since its release a month ago; most of which was made within the first week alone.
The critically acclaimed series is riding high with its newfound success after a couple of years of under-performance and diminishing expectations. 2018 was a strong year for the brand, thanks to the success of Resident Evil 7, and now it looks like that will continue into 2019.

Now, Resident Evil has officially passed 90 million units sold worldwide, a monumental achievement for Capcom and the popular franchise. After two decades, fans have remained loyal to the series through its lows and highs. The anticipation for the rumored Resident Evil 8 is definitely rising, as fans can’t wait to see what is to come.

For the uninitiated, Resident Evil is one of the most popular series in video game history, dating back to 1996 with its debut on the PS1. The games pioneered the survival horror format, gaining much fanfare and critical success in the process, across its multiple releases. It has also received spin-offs and movies, to mixed results.
