During NACON Connect today, the publisher offered a slew of reveals, including 16 games presented and five new announcements. One of those announcements included RoboCop: Rogue City - Unfinished Business, the standalone expansion to the 2023 first-person shooter RoboCop: Rogue City.
Despite RoboCop's victory over Detroit's gangs, crime still floods the streets. In Rogue City - Unfinished Business, RoboCop is called back into action when OCP's latest project, OmniTower, a massive housing complex built for Old Detroit resident’s well-being, comes under threat by a group of highly trained mercenaries. Armed with high-tech weaponry, the mercenaries have taken control of the building and turned it into a deadly fortress. It's now up to RoboCop to get inside and restore order.
In a surprising twist, RoboCop: Rogue City - Unfinished Business's missions will take players through intense flashbacks, offering the chance to play as Alex Murphy for the first time in a video game.
Crime doesn’t pay, but it doesn’t stop the bad guys from trying in this stand-alone follow-up to RoboCop: Rogue City. OCP’s latest project, OmniTower, a massive complex built for the residents of Old Detroit has been seized by a group of highly trained mercenaries who shoot first and ask questions… well never.
As you can see from the trailer above, RoboCop faces all-new enemies and cutting-edge threats, including flying drones, explosive crawling bots, and anti-personnel turrest. This is in addition to the elite military troops who are heavily armed.
"Expect to face shielded squads wielding miniguns, spec-ops equipped with jet packs or even enemies armed with katanas who look more machine than man," the press release teases. To counter these threats, RoboCop has a wide range of powerful weapons, including the iconic Auto-9 and the all-new Cryo Cannon.
RoboCop: Rogue City – Unfinished Business will be released this summer for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
For those who haven't played RoboCop: Rogue City, it's also available on consoles and PC. The game was released in 2023 to widespread acclaim. While it sits at a 72 on Metacritic with critics, general gamers found it to be much more enjoyable with a 8.1 average score. Although the story was criticized as unoriginal, the look and feel of the it was comparable to that of the film, with many calling it the most authentic adaptation the franchise has seen. Rogue City ultimately exceeded Nacon's sales expectations, so it's no surprise that we're now getting a standalone expansion.
