It was recently confirmed that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will swing into stores this Fall, and while we've seen a brief teaser trailer, it seems likely a proper first look at the sequel is imminent.
It's been a while since any new intel has leaked about the highly anticipated video game, but an alleged playtester has taken to social media to share some intriguing new details (via ComicBook.com). We're taking this with a pinch of salt, but the intel is sensible enough to be believable and confirms the presence of a surprise villain in the follow-up to Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
"Got back from play testing Spider-Man PS5. Looks amazing, and I can't wait for people to see it. Obviously, some hitches since it's still just freshly past its 'Beta' phase from what I can tell," this supposed insider claims. "Anyway, [the] story has got a relic from the original Venom story I've never seen elsewhere."
"Early in the game Pete and Miles are scuffling the city for [a] dude in a green ski mask, who looks a lot like the Sin-Eater."
Perhaps we shouldn't be shocked because, on the page, Eddie Brock's hatred of Spider-Man stemmed from the fact the web-slinger caught and unmasked the real Sin Eater (the reporter had been fooled by a copycat and was subsequently humiliated.
The villain doesn't have any superpowers and actually went on a rampage across New York City with his shotgun, leading to the death of Police Captain Jean DeWolff among countless others. Eddie, meanwhile, hasn't actually been confirmed for Spider-Man 2 and Peter no longer works at the Bugle, so if Sin Eater does show up, we're guessing he's been reimagined somewhat.
We'll have to wait and see, but the current expectation is that Harry Osborn could be Venom, with Peter eventually donning the suit, giving players the opportunity to experience a very different type of gameplay.
