A long-running tradition amongst Marvel properties is to squeeze in an appearance by Marvel Comics co-creator Stan Lee - as a respectful, little nod to all of the work he did raising the company from the ground up. Whether it's the latest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, like Ant-Man and The Wasp, or even one of Fox's X-Men titles, you're always going to bear witness to the cinema erupting into a rapture of whispers - "That's Stan Lee!"
Similar to the Lego video-games based on Marvel properties, such as
Lego Marvel Superheroes 2, Stan's managed to jump mediums and make one of his beloved cameos in Insomniac Games' newest, critically acclaimed, title:
Marvel's Spider-Man. As you'd expect seeing as he basically created the character.
Check out the cameo appearance in the video below:
In the scene above we see Peter and Mary Jane meet-up to discuss the early mission which you'd have just finished completing. It serves as the introduction to the menacing "Demons" - some of the game's main antagonists. But that's not all as love is in the air; Peter and MJ's romantic relationship was brought to an end six months prior to the game's events - no doubt on account of Peter's risky responsibilities. Though broken up, the characters still care about one another, as they discuss.
As Peter debarks the situation to the call of blaring sirens, its revealed that we weren't the only ones enjoying the classic couple's romantic sparks. As MJ makes her way out, Stan bids her farewell with a line which is bound to bring a smile to your face:
"Love seeing you two together again. You always were my favourites."
What do you think of Stan's touching cameo appearance? Which one of his cameos would you say is his best (because this one is certainly up there)?
Marvel's Spider-Man is out now exclusively on PS4.
Excelsior!
