Ubisoft Is Not Planning To Release Any SPLINTER CELL Games Anytime Soon, Jason Schreier Says

While there's still hope that Ubisoft will reveal a new Splinter Cell game at E3 2019, Jason Schreier, the man behind all those Assassin's Creed leaks, claims that Sam Fisher won't return anytime soon...

Given that the last entry in the long-running Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell series, SC: Blacklist, hit store shelves in August 2013, many fans of the cycle have been eagerly anticipating an official confirmation that Ubisoft hasn't forgotten about the franchise and is working on a brand-new title with Sam Fisher.

While Michael Ironside returned to the fan-favorite role in a Ghost Recon: Wildlands DLC and the French studio has been teasing Splinter Cell 7 for quite some time now (not to mention last year's huge Walmart Canada leak that spoiled the existence of RAGE 2, Forza Horizon 4, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Just Cause 4, Gears 5, and the next Splinter Cell), nothing has been officially announced just yet.

According to Kotaku's Jason Schreier, the valued reporter responsible for all those proven Assassin's Creed leaks (he revealed that Ubisoft is working on a Viking-themed AC game just a month ago), Ubisoft has no current plans to revive the Splinter Cell series anytime soon. "It's impossible for me to definitively say "There is no Splinter Cell game in the works" (and, knowing how Ubisoft functions, it's likely that there's some project in pre-production that will one day take on the Splinter Cell IP) but everyone I've talked to who knows things about Ubisoft has said that as far as they know, there's no Splinter Cell coming any time soon," Schreier explained on the ResetEra forum.

Although it's more and more evident that Ubisoft doesn't plan to announce any new Splinter Cell projects in the foreseeable future, the company has recently announced that three new Ubisoft-developed video games (all hasn't been announced yet) will debut between January and April 2020 – so there's still hope that a new game starring Sam Fisher will be released for the current-gen consoles.

As a reminder, Ubisoft's official E3 2019 press conference will be taking place on Monday, June 10 at 1:00 p.m. PT (10:00AM ET, 7:00AM GMT, 6:00AM on June 11 AEST), featuring brand-new details on Beyond Good and Evil 2, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, and those yet-to-be-announced titles.
