Aspyr and Lucasfilm Games are once again teaming up to bring Star Wars fans an updated classic. Having already brought Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Star Wars Battlefront, and Star Wars: Bounty Hunter to modern consoles, Aspyr is now turning its attention to Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles.

Originally released for PlayStation in 2000, Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles is a side-scrolling arcade action game loosely based on the events that unfold in Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace. But instead of only playing as Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're also able to play as fellow Jedi Mace Windu, Plo Koon, and Adi Gallia.

Additionally, players will have immediate access to all the secret characters and levels from the original game unlocked from the start, including Darth Maul, Captain Panaka, Queen Amidala, and more. There are also 13 new playable characters to unlock after your first playthrough, like the Rifle Droid, Tusken Raider, Ishi Tib, and Weequay.

"Take back the Theed Palace in this fast and furious lightsaber action game. You will have the power of the Force and your trusty lightsaber to help you ward off legions of battle droids, destroyer droids, assassins, and other creatures from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace," the game's description teases.

Celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original STAR WARS Episode I: Jedi Power Battles with this fast-paced lightsaber action game featuring enhanced gameplay, models, environments, game modes, and more. Use the power of the Force and your trusty lightsaber against legions of droids, assassins, and other legendary foes as you fight through iconic locations from STAR WARS: Episode I - The Phantom Menace™ like Theed Palace and more.

As the trailer notes, Aspyr is adding some new features and modes to help modernize the 25-year-old game. VS and training modes from later releases of the game will be available along with the ability to play with classic or modern controls. You'll even be able to enter classic cheat codes, like Big Head Mode, and toggle the color of your lightsaber. The entire 10-level campaign and bonus mini-games are available to play as a two-player couch co-op.

Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles is scheduled to launch on January 23, 2025, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The game is already available for pre-order for $19.99.The original game was met with generally favorable reviews so if you never go the chance to experience this classic, now is the perfect time!
